Morocco trip, Dec 2007 - Majorelle Garden, Marrakesh

The Jardin Majorelle (Majorelle Garden) is a botanical garden in Marrakesh. It was created by the French painter Louis Majorelle, who lived in Marrakesh between 1922 and 1962. It has since passed into the hands of Yves Saint Laurent.

There are many different species of plants in the garden.

A special shade of bold cobalt blue which Majorelle used extensively in the garden and its buildings is named after the original owner (Majorelle bleu).

The garden is not huge, but it is a sanctuary in a noisy, busy city.
