Mumbai, India

I was fortunate to travel to Mumbai again within 6 months of my previous trip. I was in Mumbai with my colleague from Los Angelas, Mr JB. The purpose of this trip was to do knowledge transfer due to a key person is leaving the company. The 2 weeks were stressful. We actually worked through 3 different time zones; India, UK and Pacific.

However, we did manage to get some time to travel around Mumbai and the crown jewel - Taj Mahal hotel.

Mumbai's most famous landmark, the Gateway of India. The welcome sight to greet all travellers to Mumbai during the height of British reign. Funny enough it was also the last thing the British troops get to see when they sailed out of India when they gained independence in 1947.

Typical Indian trucks. The locals like to decorate their trucks with stickers and good luck charms.

The Taj Mahal hotel lies behind the busy Colaba Causeway. The hotel was built in 1903 by Sir Jamshedji Tata who, it is said, decided to construct this magnificent hotel when he was barred from entering the "Whites Only" Watsons Hotel.

The Taj, with its splendid Moorish arches and columns, majestic starways and galleries, remains one of Asia's grandest hotels, while Watsons is now a dilapidated building, the hotel having closed down long ago.
