Here we were, on our second 'annual' pilgrimage to Paris. We have spent a good amount of time wandering around. It is great that we don't have an itinerary, only an agenda to have good food, wine and fun! So, before I write more on food, here are some sights:
Palais Garnier
Boulevard Haussman?
On one of the many bridges over Seine
Palais de Justice
'Liberté, égalité, fraternité'. Slogan for the French Republic over the façade of the Palais de Justice
La Saint-Chapelle. Not the most impressive photo.
Institut de France. We are on the Pont des Arts
There were lots of photo opp along the tree-lined river side.
Louvre
Pont Alexandre III
Giant gilded sculpture
Les Invalides
The Eiffel Tower at night. Special light effect went on for about 15 minutes and it was amazing.
You can see the Eiffel Tower from one of the weekend markets. It is very posh and there were lots of top quality produce! The market is not in the picture though.
The church at Les Invalides.
Napoleon Bonaparte's tomb lies in most prominent location under the dome.
Funny garden. There were hundreds of these trimmed bushes!
Eiffel Tower during the day time
There are some very nice apartments around the tower.
Does something look funny in the photo? See next photo..
You are right! There is a statue of liberty in Paris! In appreciation for the Statue of Liberty in New York harbour, Americans living in Paris erected their own Statue of Liberty near the Eiffel Tower. It is only a small replica though.
X'mas market at La Defense. La Grande Arche in the background.
