UK trip, Aug 2007 - The Eden Project, Cornwall

The Eden Project is a large environmental complex in Cornwall, UK. It is one of the largest greenhouse in the world and it is made up by a number of domes. Each of the domes emulates a set of natural climate conditions and houses plant species particular to the biome.
The domes are made out of hundreds of hexagons plus a few pentagons that interconnect the whole construction together.

There is a large shop and visitor centre at the entrance.

The Eden Project contains over 100,000 plant species from around the world and it offers an avenue for environmental education. It focuses on the interdependence of plants and people and demonstrates the need for environmental care to create a sustainable future on our own.

We were quite surprised at the number of people at the entrance. The going rate for an adult ticket was £14 and a family ticket was £35. The British are known for their love of nature and horticulture, and there were surely a large number of enthusiasts! And to be fair, the price is not too bad considering it must very expensive to maintain such a large structure with a large number of plants. It is also a good concept. I only wish we have more time so that we can visit the domes!

If we are going back to Cornwall during the summertime, I would very much like to visit this place again.
